Overview
Cast Steel Gate Valve design and manufacture according to API 600 standard or BS 1414, API 600 is from the American Petroleum Institute, a standard for bolted bonnet Steel gate valves –flanged and butt welding ends, for petroleum and natural gas industries
BS 1414 is equal to API 600 standard for OS&Y, solid or flexible wedge, rising stem gate valve size from 2 inches to 24 inches, class 150 to class 2500. and also covers cast steel from 26 inches to 42 inches, class 150 and class 300 only.

Bolt bonnet
One of the most common joints for a gate valve is the bolted-bonnet joint. It’s used on a majority of industrial valves and is found in most factories and plants today.
The bolted bonnet connection requires a seal. Sheet gaskets are typically used for lower-pressure connections and metallic ones are needed for higher-pressure joints.

OS&Y

Outside screw yoke, makes it easy to open and close a gate valve by moving a gate. When you raise the gate, water will flow past it. Closing the gate closes off that passage from the water.
